Staff Bio'sSenior Pastor Rev. Mike Yarbrough was called as the Senior Pastor of Fairview Baptist Church on Sunday, June 10, 2007 and officially began his ministry on June 18, 2007. Bro. Mike has served churches in Columbus, Georgia, Durham, North Carolina and Phenix City, Alabama.
Bro. Mike has served as a Children's pastor, Single Adult/College pastor, Youth Pastor and as an interim Pastor all beginning in 1998. Bro. Mike graduated from Columbus College with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice in 1986 which he used in his 15 years in local and state law enforcement having served for 9 years with the Columbus, Georgia Police Department and 6 years as a Special Agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Bro. Mike graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree in May 2005.
Bro. Mike married the former Sandra Sharp on September 1, 1984 and together they have 5 children: Chris, Ashley, Megan, Cameron & Collin.
Bro. Mike has a heart for missions, leading youth groups from North Carolina in mission work to Baltimore, MD; Atlanta, GA.; and Pittsburgh, PA. He has also traveled on numerous occasions to Romania as a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church Mission Team and also with Southeastern Seminary.
Bro. Mike is an avid sports fan following the Atlanta Braves and the Auburn Tigers! Warrrrr Eagle!!!!
Student Minister/Associate Pastor Bro. Jimbo Albrecht volunteered in the Youth Department at Fairview Baptist starting in 1998. Becoming a Sunday School Teacher in 2002, Bro. Jimbo felt the call on his life into the Gospel Ministry. In March 2007, Jimbo was elected as the Youth Coordinator, and then was called as the Student Minister /Associate Pastor in January of 2008.
Bro. Jimbo earned an Associates Degree in 1987 from the Community College of the Air Force in Computer Programming and has received specialized training in the area of Student Leadership. Bro. Jimbo priorly served in the Unites States Air Force in the area of Satellite Communications, and holds a Ga State Electrical License. Bro. Jimbo is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies through distance learning, then plans to attend Seminary at a later date. He has a heart for youth, and desires to see them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Bro. Jimbo is married to the former Merrie Chesser of Columbus, and has two children, Jon Patrick, and Jimmy, and one granddaughter, Carly. Bro. Jimbo is an avid musician and also a computer and audio visual techie. He is also an avid Auburn Tigers fan. War Eagle!
